Poppy Buck's Pizza held it's ribbon cutting on Tuesday, July 18th at their location at 16566 US Hwy 431 S, Headland, AL 36345-8443. The event was sponsored by the Headland Area Chamber of Commerce. Executive Director Rhonda Harrison and Mayor Ray Marler addressed the gathering as well as Ross Kilpatrick gave his thanks to all those who came out for the event. Poppy Buck's Pizza phone number is 334-693-2300.
Ross Kilpatrick explains how the business got it's name:
"The name Poppy Buck’s originated from my grandfather, Billy Jernigan. We all called him “Poppy”. His father was called “Buck”, as a nickname. When I was a young boy, I told Poppy that I would open up a restaurant with him one day and that we would name the restaurant Poppy’s. He passed away shortly after we moved to Henry Co. a few years back. After his passing, I learned that he was born in the Lawrenceville community—in northern Henry Co. Knowing that adds a special touch to this for me. We are opening the restaurant in his memory."
He added "We are honored to serve the Headland and Henry Co. communities. Our aim is to cook the best pizzas in the Wiregrass and to provide excellent service for years to come."
